Thomas Gordon, 65, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Thomas M. Gordon, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before services.

Thomas died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 65.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1946, in Faribault, the son of Burneth and Phyllis Gordon.

He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1964.

He married Cindy Hultman on April 18, 1979. He attended drafting school, worked on the railroad and also worked in construction. He owned and operated Motorcycle Specialties in Albert Lea for more than 20 years. Thomas had been a member of the YMCA since he was 14 years old, where he especially enjoyed weight lifting. He was an avid drag racer and motorcycle enthusiast. He also did custom painting and loved animals.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Albert Lea; children: Melanie (Brian) Anderson of Winona with a granddaughter to arrive soon, Amy Gordon of Duluth, Jason (Carrie) Gordon of Minneapolis; brother, Mike (Judy) Gordon of Albert Lea; nephews: Tony and Jeremy Gordon of Montana and Zack (Stephanie) Gordon of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Betty Rupp of Las Vegas, Kathy (Jim) Jorgenson of Owatonna, Jane (Dale) Piz of Windsor, Colo., Diane Bollig of Windsor, Colo., and Pat (Quentin) Matson of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Bob Hultman of Fort Collins, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews on Cindy’s side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burneth and Phyllis Gordon, and a brother, Peter, in infancy.

Thomas had a great love for his family and will be fondly remembered for his keen sense of humor.
