Weekend Planner: Alpaca farm having open house

Albert Lea’s Oak Knoll Farms hosts its own event for National Alpaca Farm Days this weekend.
There will be an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the farm, at 1650 Hammer Road in Albert Lea.
Families are welcome to come meet the alpacas up close. Feel free to bring a camera and check out the store that sells products like sweaters, scarves, blankets and more made out of alpaca fiber. Refreshments will be served. Call 507-202-2077 with questions.
Friday
• Homecoming games start at 7 p.m. in Albert Lea, Glenville and Wells. Albert Lea plays Winona. Glenville-Emmons plays Spring Grove, and United South Central plays St. Clair.
Saturday
• The American Association of University Women hosts a tour of homes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for one or $25 for two; tickets are available at Ben’s Floral & Frame, Celebrations Party & Gifts, Addie’s Floral & Gifts, Hy-Vee and Thorne Crest Retirement Community. Funds raised will carry on the mission of the AAUW.
• Oak Knoll Farms in Albert Lea hosts its Alpaca Farm Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Alden Lions hosts a rib supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alden-Conger School’s cafeteria. Menu consists of ribs, coleslaw, beans, roll, beverage and dessert for $11. Takeout is available. Proceeds go toward community projects.
Sunday
• Civic Music present the Clarinet Swing Kings at 3 p.m. at the auditorium in Albert Lea High School. Admission is by season tickets only. Tickets to the live broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera will also be for sale.
