St. John’s Auxiliary

The St John’s Lutheran Home Auxiliary met Oct. 19 in St John’s Chapel. Vice President Angie Nelson welcomed everyone. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister gave devotions from the Gospel of St Mark. Hymns, “Breathe on Me, Breath of God” and “America the Beautiful,” were sung, accompanied by Becky Nordland.
Caroline Neale gave the September secretary’s report. Treasurer’s report was presented by Ruth Perry. Perry reported that 147 people attended the Oct. 11 fundraiser luncheon; money taken in was $1,253.70.
The nominating committee report was given by Ethel Thistad. Officers for 2010 will be President JoAnn Fink, Vice President Carol Rask, Secretary Caroline Neale and Treasurer Lorraine Schaper.
Volunteer coordinator Carla Reichel reported that 732 volunteer hours were donated in September. Day Care had two You and Me Clubs, one sing-a-long, one program, and 32 room-to-room visits.
Nelson read the names of residents celebrating October birthdays and the birthday song was sung in their honor. Residents with October birthdays are: Patsy Block, Carol Emmons, Richard Fraser, Maxine Helland, Rosemarie Hendrickson, Richard Knutson, Hazel Krueger, Florence Mumm, Casper Munson, Caroline Sofules, Marion Sofules, Otto VanDeer, Gladys Winter and Margaret Yost.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were: Emmons Lutheran, Community Lutheran of Geneva, East Freebom Lutheran and Mansfield Lutheran. Trinity Lutheran was thanked for presenting the Oct. 14 cheer program.
A program of hymns and stories was presented by the Rev. Ken and Bourne Jensen, accompanied by Nordland.
Refreshments were furnished by St. John’s Dietary Department.
