You Can Help
Published Saturday, October 31, 2009
The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for other things, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
St. John’s Lutheran Home: It’s party time at St. John’s! Volunteers are needed to help with seasonal parties and events. Plan to help with one party or with several if you really like parties. It means a lot to the residents. Dates and times vary, so you can fit it into your schedule many ways. Call Carla at 473-1028.
Arc: Help cook and serve the annual soup and chili supper on Nov. 23. Volunteers are needed in the morning to chop vegetables and cook and from 4 to 7:30 p.m. to serve and clean up.
Bellringers and Sharing Tree: Plan now when you can help the Salvation Army raise funds and provide gifts to make Christmas a better time for area residents. Add your name to the schedule.
Chore Services: Might you be able to do some fall yard work for some frail and elderly people who want to remain in their own homes but are no longer able to rake and clean up yards? Volunteer with Freeborn County Chore Services!
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
