It’s that time of year. The United Way has been gearing up for months and is now ready to begin its newest fund drive, hoping to raise $425,000 in upcoming months.

Throughout the county, residents will be showered with opportunities to pitch in and help the agency that helps so many others.

While many can see the benefits of the United Way in their own life – whether through a connection to a United Way benefitted agency or program or by witnessing the results of unselfish giving, others might have to look harder.

The efforts of such agencies often go unnoticed by those who aren’t looking for a helping hand at the present moment. The United Way might be hidden until a time of need appears.

Still, help is always needed.

That’s why area residents should be urged to find out more about the United Way.

Take time to make a phone call, sit down with a volunteer or ask a friend what the United Way does in our community.

With the knowledge of how the agency touches so many local lives, a first-time, or repeat, giver can discover how their unselfish act is making our community a better place.
