Need yet another indicator summer is going way too fast?
It’s almost time to register for fall sports.
Albert Lea High School Athletic Director Ross Williams has announced a new procedure for registration.
The ALHS athletic office will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 6-10, so parents and students can register for a fall sport.
According to Williams, the following must be completed and turned in to the athletic office before an athlete will officially be placed on a team roster:
* 2001-2002 Minnesota State High School League eligibility forms which must be signed by both student and parent;
* An insurance waiver, signed by student and parent;
* Record of a current physical on file in the athletic office;
* Fees paid at time of registration;
In addition, minimum credit requirements must be met.
Once these obligations are completed, students will receive a sport participation card and placed on that team’s roster. The athletic office will forward the final roster to the head coaches, who will hold their own individual meeting to review season, school and MSHSL regulations. Those meetings are expected to be held the week of Aug. 13.
Practices for all fall sports – boys’ and girls’ cross country, football, boys’ and girls’ soccer, girls’ swimming and diving, girls’ tennis and volleyball – begin Monday, Aug. 13.
Williams added that ALHS athletic passes will also be available for purchase from noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 6-10.
Passes available for the fall season, good for all home events excluding tournaments and postseason play, are: adult, all sports, $52; grade 7-adult, 10-event punch pass, $25; K-6 punch pass, $20; student, all sports, $8 for fall athletes, $15 for non-athletes; football reserve seating, $26. Senior citizen passes are free. Gate admissions are $5 for adults, $4 for students, preschoolers free.
The regular ALHS athletic office hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
