&uot;That was a tough go,&uot; said Baas after Sunday’s final nine at ALCC. &uot;The golf course won this weekend.&uot;

There was little suspense going into the final nine with Baas holding an eight-stroke lead over Lynn Toenges, who finished second at 190.

Sixteen-year-old Dan Breuer was a surprise third-place finisher at 192. It was the first time high school-age players were allowed to compete and Breuer, who will be a junior, admitted he was a little intimidated.

&uot;It was fun,&uot; said Breuer. &uot;I’m not used to playing with older guys. There’s a lot more pressure with those guys watching.&uot;

&uot;I was real impressed with Dan Breuer today,&uot; said Baas. &uot;He just stepped up to the plate right away.&uot;

Baas said the greens were tough on both courses.

&uot;Both superintendents did a great job preparing the courses,&uot; said Baas. &uot;They definitely spiced it up a little bit with some pin placements. You had to make sure you were above the hole.&uot;
