ROCHESTER – After four games and four narrow defeats, Albert Lea High School girls’ soccer coach Todd Lange is still not dissatisfied. At least not with the Tigers’ level of play.

&uot;I am disappointed with the record, but I’m not down, and the girls don’t seem to be down,&uot; said Lange. &uot;We realize we’re playing some real good soccer. We’ve been right in every game. It’s just a matter of time. If we can keep playing the same kind of soccer we are, we’re going to win some games this season.&uot;

The Tigers, though, fell to 0-4 Thursday night with their third one-goal loss of the year, 2-1 at Rochester Century.

&uot;We definitely had some good chances,&uot; said Lange.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of the first half, scoring on a shot that deflected off an Albert Lea defender.

A similar shot by Amy Ravenhorst tied it for the Tigers two minutes later.

Century scored on a penalty kick in the 34th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime and complete the scoring.

The Panthers outshot the Tigers 20-9.

Among the Tigers to play a strong game, according to Lange, was defender Holly Nelson.

&uot;We put her on Century’s top forward,&uot; said Lange. &uot;She did a fantastic job.&uot;

Also playing well were Stacy Vanderploeg on defense and Amy Marka at forward.

The Albert Lea junior varsity lost 3-1 despite leading 1-0 until the final 15 minutes. The ninth-grade fell 3-0.

The Tigers are in action Tuesday with a Big Nine game at Rochester John Marshall.
