MANKATO – The Albert Lea High School girls’ swimming and diving team tied with the home team for 11th place in the Mankato East Cougar Relays Saturday.

MANKATO – The Albert Lea High School girls’ swimming and diving team tied with the home team for 11th place in the Mankato East Cougar Relays Saturday.
Faribault won a three-way battle for first with 115 points, followed by Red Wing with 113, Northfield 112, Lakeville 105, Austin 103, Mankato West 72, St. Peter 62, Owatonna 51, Rochester John Marshall 49 and Rochester Mayo 47. The Tigers and Cougars had 44 points.
The Tigers’ top finish was in the 300-yard breaststroke relay, where Krista Horejsi, Megan Austin and Leah Matheson combined for fifth.
Other places: 400 freestyle, sixth (Laura Grund, Chelsea Cole, Brooke Kaasa, Lonna Vanderploeg); 600 freestyle, seventh (Grund, Cole, Kaasa); 300 backstroke, eighth (Amy Leach, Alyssa Nelson, Kaeli Wayne); 300 medley, 10th (Austin, Leach, Nelson); 200 butterfly, 10th (Grund, Cole, Leach); 850 freestyle, 10th (Austin, Laura Linnes, Rachael Hagen, Kaasa); diving, 11th (Laura Hillman, Kassi Gaul); 200 freestyle, 11th (Horejsi, Matheson, Vanderploeg, Wayne); 200 medley, 12th (Wayne, Matheson, Nelson, Vanderploeg).
The Tigers return to Big Nine competition Thursday with a 6 p.m. home dual meet against Rochester Mayo.
