ALDEN – Coach Gary Nelson said it was evident the Alden-Conger Knights needed to run the football if they wanted to win their homecoming game.
So he left little room for error.
The Knights attempted only three passes all night, rushing for 404 yards while blowing out Lyle/Austin Pacelli 42-20 Friday for their first win of the year.
&uot;It’s just a matter of who shows up to play,&uot; said Nelson. &uot;Tonight, we got off on the right foot and just kept it going.&uot;
The feet that saw the most action belonged to Alex Drescher, who gained a season-high 172 yards on 22 carries. Dominic Hayes had 100 on 12 carries, David Schmidt 97 on 14.
Drescher and Schmidt also played outstanding at defensive end, according to Nelson.
