MANKATO – According to coach Larry Goodnature, there was no messing around for the Albert Lea High School wrestling team at Mankato West Thursday night.
The Tigers meant business.
&uot;Everyone, the junior varsity and varsity, came to Mankato to wrestle,&uot; said Goodnature. &uot;It was a total team effort by both squads.&uot;
And it was pretty much domination for Albert Lea. The Tigers’ varsity won 41-24 while the junior varsity prevailed 44-19.
&uot;It was a good evening for everyone on the team,&uot; said Goodnature. &uot;We were very aggressive. Everyone wrestled with a lot of heart.&uot;
Adam Elseth remained unbeaten, scoring a 20-7 major decision at 135 pounds.
Winning by fall for the Tigers were Josh Hansen, 103; Neal Underdahl, 130; Nate Loberg, 152; and Justin Krueger, 171.

The Tigers lost four bouts by fall: Alex Hansen, 112; Nate Goodnature, 119; Corey Frerk, 145; and Chris Hable, heavyweight.
The win improved the Tigers to 1-1 in the Big Nine and 3-3 overall in dual meets.

&uot;One thing we’ve been trying to improve on is takedowns, and both squads had more than Mankato West tonight,&uot; said Coach Goodnature. &uot;That was good to see.&uot;
