Being a commissioner since 1998, Mullenbach will administer his second term as chairman this year. And for Behrends, who became a commissioner last year, this is the first time he’ll pitch in.

Other items discussed at the meeting were:

– Transferring the road authority of County Road 91 to the City of Albert Lea: The commissioners agreed to turn over a part of the 91 from the city limit near Morningside Road to I-35 so that the city could extend its water system and install streetlights. The annexation is in connection with Home Depot opening in the area.

– Entering into a contract of a preliminary engineering survey for wastewater systems in Conger, Manchester and Myrtle. Arden Environmental Engineering Inc. will conduct the $16,225 project. The survey is covered by a $10,000 state grant, $9,000 in county matching funds and $4,500 in matching funds from the three communities.

– Authorizing assistance to incorporated cities and townships for their road and street work.
