MANKATO &045; Albert Lea’s entrants in the Section 1AA individual boys’ tennis tournament bowed out early Monday, all dropping first-round decisions at Mankato East.

The Tigers’ No. 1 doubles team of Matt Entorf and Matt Wulff had the closest match, falling 6-4, 6-2.

John Mattson and Kurtis Bohrnstedt were defeated 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Adam Luebke lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Conner Keyeski fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

&uot;I think we could have definitely done a lot better than we did today,&uot; said Tigers coach Sean Gillam. &uot;But we made some strides this year, and I think the team can be proud of the effort they put forth. I think we made some steps in terms of learning how to control points and expose opponents’ weaknesses.&uot;

The Tigers graduate five seniors in Entorf, Wulff, Mattson, Garret Plantage and Adam Evans.
