John E. Kirsch, 69, Albert Lea

Memorial services for John E. Kirsch, age 69, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

John died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

John Edward Kirsch was born July 18, 1932, to Joseph and Anne (Bauman) Kirsch in Albert Lea and had been a lifelong resident here. On Nov. 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Peterson at the Church of St. Theodore. John served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. After his discharge, he worked as a stock expediter at Scotsman for many years. John was a member of the Church of St. Theodore, VFW, and Fountain Lake Sportsman’s Club. He liked hunting and fishing and enjoyed being with his “buddies.”

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Albert Lea; children: Barbara Hanson and her husband Ronald of Eagan, Edward Kirsch and his wife Lori of Albert Lea, and Jeffrey Kirsch and his wife Sara of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Andrew Hanson, Adrienne Hanson, Sandra Kirsch, and Payten Kirsch; step grandchildren: Nikki Linde and Annie Linde; sisters: Loretta Hartman and Betty Roche, both of Albert Lea; brother, Vernon Kirsch and his wife Wyone of Hastings; sisters-in-law Faith Kirsch and Dorothy Kirsch, both of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Bert Thompson of Faribault; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Alice Rollins, Rose Marie Thompson and Hilda Christensen; and brothers: Thomas, Joseph and Anthony Kirsch.
