Orvis Erickson, 77, Bricelyn

Funeral Services for Orvis Erickson, age 77, of Bricelyn, will be 10:30 a.m.. on Wednesday, July 3, in North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County. Officiating clergy will be the Rev. Pat Hinkie and the Rev. Ed Nieman. Visitation will be held at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on Tuesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m., and also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the North Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery, Brush Creek Township, Faribault County.

He died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from complications of a farm accident.

He was born Oct. 15, 1924, to Ole and Ida (Voldahl) Erickson in Brush Creek Township. He married Marcella “Sally” Quade on March 21,1951, in Wells.

He was lifetime resident of the farm on which he was born. He attended rural School District 451 and graduated from Bricelyn High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed and did repairs in his shop. He was a member of the North Blue Earth Lutheran Church and its cemetery board. He was a member of the Bricelyn American Legion Post, Orvis and Sally wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz., where they attended Epiphany Lutheran Church. He enjoyed auctions, traveling, and working in his shop.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Erickson of Bricelyn; daughter, Nancy and husband David Johnson of Hillsboro, N.D.; son, Ron and wife Janis Erickson of Bricelyn; daughter,: Linda and husband Glenn Gullikson of Bricelyn; son, Robert and wife Susan Erickson of Del Norte, Colo.; six Grandchildren: James and Emily Erickson, Katie, Ryan and Eric Klingbeil, and Anthony Oldfather; one sister, Judith Starks of Silver Spring, Md.; four sisters-in-law: Irene Babcock of Wells, Marie and husband Earl Hansen of Freeborn, Dorothy and husband Norman Jacobsen of Freeborn, and Margaret and husband Bill Hungerford of Mason City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane Oldfather, in 1990; and two brothers-in-law: Norman Babcock and Jack Starks.
