LYLE &045; Even though his team was seeded three spots higher than Alden-Conger in the Sub-section 1A West volleyball tournament, Glenville-Emmons coach Craig Rayman was taking nothing for granted.
&uot;To be frank, I was concerned,&uot; said Rayman. &uot;The last time we played them we won 3-2, and they won the first two games. There’s such a good rivalry between the schools in all sports that if you’re not ready to play you’ll find yourself coming out on the short end.&uot;
The Wolverines were apparently ready to play. They beat the Knights 3-0, winning 15-7, 15-7, 15-7 in a quarterfinal match at Lyle Thursday night.
The Wolverines, seeded third among eight teams in the sub-section, improved their record to 19-7 and advanced to the semifinals Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center.
