Gladys Bessie VanderSyde, 82, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Gladys B. VanderSyde, age 82, of Albert Lea will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the Bayview chapel.

Gladys died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Gladys Bessie VanderSyde was born March 6, 1920, to Harry L. and Bessie (Wigant) Lewis in Claremont, Minn. She lived her early life in Claremont until moving to Albert Lea after the death of her mother. Gladys was a member of First Lutheran Church and had been confirmed there, She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1938. Gladys was united in marriage to Norman Ingvaldson in the early 1940s. The couple farmed in Newry Township before moving to Mora and then Blooming Prairie. Norman preceded her in death. On March 17, 1986, Gladys married Albert &uot;Bill&uot; VanderSyde in Albert Lea and continued to live here. She enjoyed gardening and knitting and loved flowers.

Survivors include her son, Dale Ingvaldson and his wife Linda of Sartell, Minn.; grandchildren: Scott Ingvaldson and his wife Tanya of Lindstrom and Penelope, Minn., Petron and her husband Charles and their sons, Jacob and Eric of Maplewood, Minn.; step-children: Paul VanderSyde and his wife Diane of Albert Lea, Gary VanderSyde and his wife Linda of Chicago, and Karen Oldenkamp and her husband Herman of Austin; nine step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
