James L. Jim Kolb, 70, Chatfield

James L. &uot;Jim&uot; Kolb, age 70, died Friday Nov. 22, 2002 after complications of Parkinson’s Disease following a lengthy illness. Kolb died at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minn.
Kolb, was born Feb. 9, 1932 at Melrose, Minn. to Matt and Ethel (Minor) Kolb. He was married April 16, 1955 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester to Agnes C. Riepe.
Kolb was born in Melrose and then moved to Austin, Minn. when he was a child. He grew up in Austin, where he graduated high school from. He live din Austin for 22 years and then moved to Rochester, later marrying. He was a mail carrier for 32 years in Rochester for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Kolb is survived by three daughters; Cathie (Chris) Refsland, Des Moines, Iowa, Barb (Paul) Schultz, Bloomington, Minn. and Michelle (Al) Anderson, Dexter, Minn.; and four sons; Kevin (Deirdre) Kolb, Rochester, Steve Kolb, Minneapolis, Mark (Ann) Kolb, Chatfield, Minn. and Ed (Lois) Obermeyer-Kolb, St. Paul, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister; Marny Smith, Nelson, Wis.; five brothers; Don Kolb, Rochester, Joe Kolb, Austin, Gene Kolb, Bloomington, Minn., Roger Kolb, Moose Lake, Minn. and Paul Kolb, Faribault, Minn.
A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at Macken Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church Tuesday. There will be a 5 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary Monday during the visitation. Rev. Paul Surprenant will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rochester.
Memorials are to be directed to the family and they will disperse them for Parkinson’s research.
