Ollie L. ‘Bo’ Gooden Jr., 75, Emmons

Funeral services for Ollie L. &uot;Bo&uot; Gooden, Jr., age 75, of Emmons will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Mansfield Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Interment will be in Lime Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Bo died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Ollie L. Gooden, Jr. was born April 18, 1927, to Ollie L. and Esther L. (McGill) Gooden in rural Alden. He attended country school and graduated from Alden High School. On Aug. 10, 1946, Bo was united in marriage to Marian C. Jensen in rural Emmons. Bo had been a farmer all his life and also worked for Frank Schneider, Freeborn Construction and the Mansfield Store. He loved farming, his grandchildren, horse shows, fishing, his restored Oliver &uot;66&uot; and the county fair. Bo was a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church and a former member of Lime Creek Lutheran Church, the cemetery board, church council, and the Mansfield Township Town Board.
Survivors include his wife, Marian of rural Emmons; daughters: Cynthia and husband Larry Mattick of Phoenix, Ariz., Sandra and husband Neil Anderson of Clarks Grove, Susan and husband Barry Hillegas of Englewood, Colo., and Patti and husband Mark Honsey of Lake Mills, Iowa; son, Mikal and wife Kimberly Gooden of Emmons; grandchildren: Brian Mattick, Daniel Mattick, and Todd Mattick, all of Phoenix, Ariz., Danielle Anderson of Minneapolis, Sara Anderson of Chicago, Ill., Ryan Anderson of Clarks Grove, Erin and husband Matthew Smith of Sioux Falls, S.D., Katie Gooden and Brady Gooden, both of Emmons, Andrew Treharne of Longmont, Colo., Ashley Honsey and fianc Travis Hoffman of Lake Mills, and Beau Honsey, also of Lake Mills; great-grandchildren: Shallan Mattick, Brianna Mattick, Jacob Mattick, Derek Mattick, Taylor Mattick, Emma Hoffman, Jake Smith and Jesse Smith; sister, Betty and husband Harland Fosness of Northwood, Iowa; brother, Donald and wife Mescal Gooden of Emmons; sister-in-law, Jeannette Gooden of Ava, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Roy Carlsen of Glenville; stepsisters-in-law Pearl Lair of Emmons, Verliss and husband Pat Lair of Albert Lea, and Darlene and husband Kenny Lee of Morganton, Ga.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Orville and Robert; father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Mabel Jensen; stepmother-in-law, Lila Jensen; brother-in-law, Roger Petersen, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
