Arleigh M. Lee, 77, Ellendale

The memorial service for Arleigh M. Lee of Ellendale will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the First Lutheran Church, Ellendale. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5- 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale.
Arleigh died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. He was 77 years old.
Arleigh was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Bath Township, Freeborn County, to Bennie and Margaret (Reistad) Lee. He was a lifetime resident of Bath Township. Arleigh attended Ellendale High School. He married Vivian Cain on Oct. 15, 1946 at Ellendale. Arleigh was a member of First Lutheran Church. He farmed in Bath Township and worked as a general mechanic. In 1973, he opened Lee’s Repair in Ellendale. Arleigh also did custom bailing and shelling for various farmers. He also ran the Ellendale School snowplow from 1958-1976 when they retired the plow. He also was the general mechanic for the Ellendale School buses. Arleigh managed the Ellendale Skippers 4-H softball team. He enjoyed traveling, buying repairable cars, lawn mowing, and especially keeping his yard clean, and playing cards in the neighborhood.
Arleigh is survived by his children: Allen Lee and his wife Dianne of Ellendale, and LuAnn Sommer and her husband Roger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren: Mark Lee and his wife Rachael, and Chad Sommer; aunt, Irene Peitan and her husband Pete of Wells; uncle, Vernon Reistad and his wife Ethel of Waseca; aunt, Nora Jepson and her husband Leonard of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Marilyn Cain of Wadena, Minn.; and cousins, nieces and nephews; and Charlie his dog.
Arleigh was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; and grandson, Rodney Sommer.
Arleigh will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and friends.
