NC-NK third, Lake Mills fourth in Viking Invitational

NORTHWOOD, Iowa &045; Host NC-NK finished third and Lake Mills was fourth in the annual NC-NK Viking Wrestling Invitational at Northwood Saturday.
Turkey Valley won with 197 points, followed by Nora Springs-Rock Falls with 186, NC-NK 185, Lake Mills 148.5, West Hancock 122.5, Rockford 106.5, North Iowa-North Kossuth 39 and Mason City Newman 37.
NC-NK, a combination of North Central and Northwood-Kensett, had five finalists and two champions. Brett Trenhaile took the title at 152 pounds, Erik Butler
was first at 171. Greg Kruger finished second at 135, falling in overtime in the finals. Dave Vance dropped a 1-0 decision in the 160 final. Andy Haacke was edged 2-0 in the final at 145.

Four Lake Mills wrestlers reached the finals and two won, Cody Rognes at 112 and Jake Koeppen at 275. Dan Helgeson dropped a 2-0 decision in the 125 final. Derek Rosen was pinned in the third period of the 119 title bout.
