Memorial services were held for Robert D. Babey, age 67, of San Diego, Calif., at Trinity Lutheran Church on Dec. 23, 2002.

He was born on June 16, 1935, in Albert Lea, the son of John and Anna Babey. He passed away Dec. 18, 2002 from a heart attack. Robert was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hollandale. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. Robert served in the United States Navy, San Diego, and later became a telephone tester for Pacific Bell Telephone Company. He was an avid photographer and was interested in astronomy. Robert was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served his Lord and people of Trinity for over 40 years, most recently as chairman of the board of elders. He taught Sunday school, was president of Men’s Club, and promoted comfort and spiritual care to the home centered.

Survivors include his wife, Danice; sisters: Leona Taylor of Albert Lea, Alice Pepperling and Julia Slegh of Hollandale; and Irene Wagner of Portsmouth, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Olson; brother, John; and three brothers-in-law and one nephew.

Private interment at El Camino Memorial in San Diego.
