Tiger wrestlers defeat JM, Northfield

ROCHESTER &045;Injuries have prevented the Albert Lea High School wrestling team from putting its best lineup on the mat.

But try telling that to the Northfield Raiders and Rochester John Marshall Rockets.

The Tigers, ranked No. 8 in Class AAA in The Guillotine’s latest issue, trounced both teams Thursday night at Rochester, topping Northfield 44-12 and JM 68-6. Northfield was listed &uot;Lean and Mean&uot; by the Guillotine.

&uot;We went out there and got the job done,&uot; said ALHS coach Larry Goodnature. &uot;We didn’t waste any time.&uot;

Admittedly, Goodnature was already thinking about the Monticello Invitational that begins tonight and ends Saturday. The Tigers will be among 32 teams from several states, including 14 of Minnesota’s top-rated squads.

The Tigers’ results Thursday, with Northfield meet first: Cory Frerk, 160 pounds, won 8-4, won fall; Jared Butler, 171, won 4-2, won fall; Mike Honeycutt, 189, won fall, won 11-4; Randy Larson, 215, won fall, lost 6-2; Chris Hable, 275, won 9-4, won fall; Zach Hansen, 103, won by forfeit, won fall; Josh Hansen, 112, won 21-5 tech fall, won fall; Matt Morris, 119, won 11-4, lost 7-2; Alex Hansen, 125, won 5-3, won 19-1 tech fall; Nate Goodnature, 130, lost 7-6, won fall; Neal Underdahl, 135, lost 7-6, won by fall; Adam Elseth, 140, won 15-7, won by fall; Adam Morreim, won by forfeit, won by fall; Dustin Eggum, won 6-1, won by fall.
