Albert Lea cheerleaders place fifth in competition

BLOOMINGTON &045; Four members of the Albert Lea cheer team participated in a United States regional event sponsored by Universal Cheerleading Association at the Mall of America earlier this month.
Teams from Wisconsin, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota competed.
Albert Lea High School seniors Cari Eggum, Jenna Lageson and Kayla Klukow, and junior Jodi Moen participated in the category of All Girl Partner Stunt and received fifth place.
The girls performed a sequence of stunts which included load in push liberty to arabesque, full down from extension, J-up to extension, 360 prep, cradle, wrap around to single base, prep then push to extended awesome, and one-handed single base liberty to cradle. This sequence was performed to 50 seconds of music.
These four girls are members of the ALHS wrestling cheer team and competition cheer team. They also have a combined grade point average of 3.45.
The same group also competed in a “LIB OFF&uot; at the Rochester invitational, where the flyer is held in an extended liberty stunt without dropping the pulled foot less than a 90-degree angle. The Albert Lea team held this position for 1 minute and 15 seconds.
