ALHS hockey boys win big

The only question was the final score.

The Albert Lea High School boys’ hockey team dominated Fairmont Tuesday night, outshooting the Cardinals 47-4 while winning 7-2 on the Cardinals’ rink.

The Tigers were up 5-0 after the first period, when they outshot Fairmont 20-1.

Josh Tubbs and Dustin Trail scored two goals apiece, with one each by Peter Bracker, Ben Meillier and Casey Schumaker. Assists went to Egan Mattson, Beau Larson, Schumaker, Meillier, Tubbs, Travis McKinney, Tony Dugstad and Adam Boelter.

Matt Tubbs was in goal for the first period, relieved for the final two by freshman Evan Long.

&uot;It was a dominating effort by our team,&uot; said Tigers coach Roy Nystrom.

The Tigers, 8-8, host Rochester Century in a Big Nine game Thursday.
