ALHS ICEMEN FALL AT ROCHESTER LOURDES
The Albert Lea High School boys’ hockey team lost 5-1 in a nonconference game at Rochester Lourdes Thursday.
Lourdes is rated No. 7 in the state in Class A.
The Tigers return to Rochester Saturday for a 1 p.m. Big Nine game against Century.
ALHS SWIMMERS WIN 91-68 AT MAYO
The Albert Lea High School boys’ swimming and diving team remained undefeated in dual meets with a 91-68 victory at Rochester Mayo Thursday night. See Sunday’s Tribune for details.
A-C GIRLS TOP G-E
The Alden-Conger girls’ basketball team defeated Glenville-Emmons 52-46 Thursday.
The Wolverines led after one quarter 15-8 and at halftime 22-21 before A-C outscored G-E 20-10 to take a 41-32 lead at the three-quarter mark.
Nicole Krueger, center for A-C, scored 27 points and Megan Peterson added 12 and Angie Wichmann eight. Krueger also had 11 rebounds.
Sara Greibrok scored 16 points for G-E. Jenna Brackey scored nine points, Katie Brackey seven, Megan Bjorklund six, Alisa Rayman five and Lauren Bremer three. Rayman had eight rebounds, while Jenna Brackey had five steals and six assists for the Wolverines.
JUNIOR GOLD TOURNEY HERE THIS WEEKEND
A Junior gold hockey tournament will be held in Albert Lea Jan. 17, 18 and 19 at the City Arena.
In Friday’s first game Albert Lea will play Rochester at 6 p.m.
Action starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
Teams entered in the tournament include Albert Lea, Rochester, Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul Maroon, South St. Paul White, Sioux City, Iowa, Hutchison, Sioux Falls, S.D.,
Wayzata, Shattuck St. Mary’s, Mounds View, North St. Paul, Coon Rapids, Tartan, Aberdeen, S.D. and Burnsville.
BLADES POSTPONED
The Albert Lea Blades game against Rochester Landon Trophy scheduled for Saturday at the City Arena has been postponed.
The game is rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 7 at 9:30 p.m. at the City Arena.
