Bulldogs dominate Graettinger tourney

GRAETTINGER, Iowa &045; Like a lot of wrestling teams, the Lake Mills Bulldogs have had some struggles filling out their lineup in recent years.
That wasn’t a problem Saturday.
The Bulldogs had all 14 spots filled and all 14 wrestlers placed in the top six as Lake Mills dominated the nine-team Graettinger Invitational.
Lake Mills won with 237.5 points, with Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn a distant second at 144. Garner-Hayfield was third with 128, Graettinger fourth at 126.
Nine Bulldogs made it to the championship round and six captured championships.
Keith Hebrink, 130 pounds, was named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler. Also taking first were Brent Tweed, 103; Derek Rosen, 125; Andrew Knudtson, 135; Jake Koeppen.
Also placing for Lake Mills: Cody Rognes, second, 112; Alex Langfald, second, 145; Andy Leuwerke, second, 152; Andrew Hagen, third, 171; Justin Kester, fourth, 160; Andy Langfald, fourth, 189; Spencer Stensrude, fifth, 140; Jordan Harang, sixth, 275.
The Bulldogs host Estherville in a nonconference dual meet tonight.
