Harold J. Zimmerman, 73, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Harold J. Zimmerman will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Greg P. Ciesluk will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.

Harold died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home where he had lived since 2000. He was 73 years old.

Harold was born in Faribault County on Oct. 11, 1929, the son of Gerald and Ida (Matz) Zimmerman. He attended various rural schools in the Wells area.

On Oct. 12, 1952, he was united in marriage with Fay Martin in the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. They are members of the United Methodist Church where Harold had sung in church choir and served as usher and greeter.

Harold had worked for 30 years for Almco Inc. in Albert Lea, and 10 years for Swift Eckrich in Wells. He was a member of the Eagles Club and Senior Center. He enjoyed roller skating, traveling and fishing.

Harold is survived by his wife of 50 years, Fay of Albert Lea; one brother, Marvin (Darleen) Zimmerman of Albert Lea;

three sisters-in-law: L. Esther Roberts of Apple Valley, Ruth Scheidler of Faribault, and Maves Zimmerman of Clarks Grove; three brothers-in-law: Eugene Martin of Selmar, Calif., James V. (Margie) Martin of Eau Claire, Wis., and Austin Watson of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Claire and Nathan Zimmerman; one sister, Ruth Ann Zimmerman; one niece, Karen Zimmerman; mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Lydia Bowen; three sisters-in-law: Lovica Hopkins, Ethel Tolzmann and Grace Watson; and four brothers-in-law: Cleo Hopkins, Carl Tolzmann, Giles Roberts and Edward Scheidler.
