Marian Thompson, 76, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Marian Thompson of 1936 Wilby Rd., Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today, Feb. 14, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before at the church.
Marian died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at her home in Albert Lea of acute leukemia. She was 76 years old.
Marian was born in Wells on Jan. 25, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Sonnek.
Marian was a graduate of Wells High School and moved to Albert Lea to begin work at Wilson and Company. She married Lawrence Thompson on Oct. 7, 1947. They were members of St. Theodore Catholic Church parish family.
Marian enjoyed family, friends, golf, travel and playing cards, especially with her bridge group. She volunteered for several Albert Lea organizations and enjoyed the new friends she met along the way.
Marian is survived by three brothers, three sisters and four sisters-in-law; George Sonnek (Pat) of Wells, Joseph Sonnek (Bernice) of Wells, Donald Sonnek (Vickie) of Wells, Olive Hefner (Leo) of Albert Lea, Alice Feuerhelm of Albert Lea, Elaine Huxford (Ralph) of Waseca, and Marion Sonnek (sister-in-law); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Thompson, in April 1993; a brother, Ralph Sonnek, and his wife, Myrtle; a brother, Jerome Sonnek; brother-in-law, Wayne Feuerhelm; and her parents: Agnes and Joseph Sonnek.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Crossroads Community Hospice program.
Marian will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
