A local group is organizing weekly peace vigils for Albert Lea residents during in the days, weeks and months leading up to a possible war in Iraq.
Organizers are holding the first vigil at 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon where Bridge Avenue bends into Fountain Street.
Paul Moore, who is organizing the vigil, is hoping the event will become a weekly one.
&uot;There are about 25 of these kinds of events going on around the state,&uot; he said. &uot;We’re kind of behind the times in Albert Lea.&uot;
Moore said the group chose the location because it sees some of the heaviest traffic in town.
He stressed that anyone is welcome to come.
