Funeral services for Jessie Bailey, age 97, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.

Jessie died Monday, March 24, 2003, at Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Jessie Bailey was born Dec. 20, 1905, to Cornelius and Ida (Goudemond) Dykstra in Holland. At the age of 2, she came to the United States with her family and grew up in North Dakota. On Jan. 17, 1929, Jessie was united in marriage to Frank C. Bailey in Jamestown, N.D. The couple moved to Hollandale in 1955. Jessie attended Hollandale Reformed Church. She enjoyed music, especially the piano, and had given piano lessons. Jessie also loved cats, plants and gardening.

Survivors include brother-in-law, Harry Vander Horst of Albert Lea; niece, Carol and husband Philip Van Beek of Hollandale; nephew, Wayne and wife Alice Vander Horst of Owatonna; seven grandnieces; three grandnephews; and 19 great-grandnieces.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and sister, Anna Vander Horst.
