Ruby L. Young, age 83, of Freeborn, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeborn. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery in Freeborn.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, the daughter of Charley and Frances (Bathke) Miller in Wells. She married Melvin Young on Aug. 6, 1943, in Wells.
Ruby attended school in rural Wells. She had worked for Wood Produce in Freeborn and Huntting Elevator in Freeborn. She was a member of the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ, and its Women’s Guild. She enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Young of Freeborn; two sons: Robert and his wife Luba Young of Freeborn, and Gary Young and special friend Deb Kahnke of Waseca; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two brothers: Milton Miller of Wells, and Donald and his wife Arbutus Miller of Wells; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
