Lois Ruth Turtness, 76, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Lois Ruth Turtness will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.

Lois died on Monday, April 14, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. She was 76 years old.

Lois was born in Alden on Jan. 13, 1927, the daughter of Charles Melvin and Elvina (Nielsen) Seipp. She was a graduate of Alden High School and received her bachelor of science degree and master of education degree from St. Cloud State College.

On Aug. 11, 1962, she was united in marriage with Eugene Turtness in Albert Lea.

Lois taught high school classes in Truman, Minn., St. Cloud Technical School, St. Cloud, and business classes for District 241 in Albert Lea for 32 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and she would have received the Lambda Chapter’s 2002-2003 Woman of Achievement award on April 26 at the Tau State Convention Banquet. She was also a member of the Albert Lea Business and Professional Women organization, Minnesota Association of University Women, and Minnesota Retired Teachers Organization. Eugene and Lois were members of the Holiday Ramblers. Lois was very talented with handcrafting and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking and entertaining, She made lap robes and donated them to St. John’s Nursing Home.

Lois is survived by her husband, Eugene of Albert Lea; one sister, Judy Ulrich and her husband Erv of Apple Valley, Minn.; two brothers: Lloyd Seipp and his wife Rosie of Alden, and Roy Seipp and his wife Ladonna of Owatonna; two sisters-in-law: Marlene Seipp of Alden, and June Turtness of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Verle Seipp, in 1997.
