FARIBAULT &045; The cold and rain were not the only reasons it was a long day for the Albert Lea High School girls’ track and field team.
Faribault’s nine-lane track was also a factor.
&uot;It meant each school had three entries, and we know we’re kind of lacking in depth this year, so we knew we were in trouble,&uot; said coach Margo Wayne.
They came home with last in a Big Nine triangular, scoring 31 points. Rochester Century had 96 and Faribault had 31.
The Tigers won two events, the 4×200-meter relay with Jasey Porter, Amy Ravenhorst, Emily Bartusek and Sasha Flores, and the 4×400 relay with Porter, Ravenhorst, Bartusek and Cara Thorn.
Albert Lea’s other two relays were second. Mallory King, Rachel Antinozzi, Amy Leach and Katie Stenseth ran the 4×800, Kelley Schreiber, Shawna Griffith, Becky Birkhofer and Danika Porter the 4×100.
Ravenhorst finished first in the high jump and second in the 100, missing first by 3/100ths of a second. Bartusek was second in the 800, Flores fourth in the 100, Steph Overgaard fourth in the 100 hurdles, Stenseth fourth in the 1600 and Annie Berger fourth in the long jump.
The Tigers travel to Red Wing for the True Team section meet next Tuesday.
