It only took a day for the old Golden Corral building to go down. And it will only take a couple months for two new stores to go up in its place.
The former restaurant on East Main Street, which closed at the start of the year when its owners moved away, was demolished last week. In its place will be a new auto parts store and a relocated video store, said developer Tom Leland.
A 7,000 square-foot building on the site will house a new Advance Auto Parts Store, and a 3,600 square-foot building will be the new home of Movie Gallery, formerly known as Video Update. Both are expected to open around July 1.
Advance Auto Parts is also moving into Austin, where it will occupy an old Taco Bell location, Leland said.
The current Video Update building may become the new home of the Salvation Army Thrift Store once the video store moves out. Negotiations for that deal are ongoing, Leland said.
