Albert W. Johnson, 105, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Albert W. Johnson, of 1601 Lakewood Ave., Albert Lea, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Pastor Herbert Hanson will officiate. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Albert died Monday, May 19, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. He was 105 years old.

Albert was born July 10, 1897, in Waseca to John S. and Engelie (Bagne) Johnson. He married Jennie Evelyn Kinn on Dec. 3, 1932, at Central Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. Albert and Jennie lived in the Waseca area until 1940 when they moved to a farm near Clarks Grove. They moved to Albert Lea in 1969. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Albert worked as an auto mechanic in Waseca, farmed while at Clarks Grove and was custodian for the First Baptist Church in Albert Lea. Albert enjoyed playing his guitar for dances, wood working, gardening and taking rides in the country to check out the fields.

Albert is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Moine of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jennie, on March 8, 1990, five brothers: Sievert, Julius, Joseph, Andrew and Gisle; six sisters: Martha Osmundson, Annie Stoen, Emma Johnson, Ida Hagen, Hulda Staflin, and Jeanette Olson; and son-in-law, Gene Moine.
