Irma A. Jurgensen, age 87, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Cedarview Care Center.
She was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Hope, the daughter of Louis and Lillian (Albright-Jungclaus) Schuster. Irma graduated from Owatonna High School in 1933. She attended nurses training at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis and graduated as a registered nurse in 1937.
Irma married Robert Jurgensen on June 18, 1938, in Hope. She worked at the Owatonna Clinic for many years, and at the Cedarview Care Center for a few years prior to her retirement.
She and Bob spent 25 winters in Arizona. Irma was a gracious host and enjoyed entertaining in her home. She enjoyed painting and exhibiting at the Owatonna Arts Center. She was a poet and received the Golden Poet award at the World of Poetry convention which was held in Washington, D.C. Irma volunteered for various organizations in Owatonna and was a member of the Owatonna Women’s Club and the Owatonna Country Club.
Survivors include a son, John and Donna Jurgensen of Albert Lea; daughter, Jana and Ray Henkels of New Berlin, Wis.; two brothers: Gordon and Patricia Schuster of Edina, Minn., and Robert and Pat Schuster of Owatonna; three sisters: Lorna Hubert of Minneapolis, Shirley Hauritz of Minneapolis, and Betty Bauer of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents and one sister.
Visitation will be held at the Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at The Associated Church from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. at The Associated Church in Owatonna. Dr. Ronald D. Wilson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
Memorials are preferred to The Associated Church or donor’s choice.
