Funeral services for Jon T. Goskeson, age 55, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. James Haun will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Jon died suddenly, on Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Jon Thomas Goskeson was born on April 22, 1948, in Albert Lea, the son of Thomas and Betty (Sundstrom) Goskeson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1966. Following school Jon served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967-69. After his discharge from the service, Jon worked for a short time in Belvedere, Ill. He then returned to Albert Lea and went to work for Queen Products and then Lou Rich where he was currently employed.
In 1974, Jon was united in marriage to JoAnn Helgerson in Albert Lea. Jon had many part-time jobs and enjoyed helping other people with things that needed to be done. He raised pigeons and loved pheasant hunting and biking. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of Albert Lea; children: Daniel and his wife Stacey of Frankfort, Germany, Todd and his wife Billie Jo of Farmington, and Lisa of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Ian, Leah, Cetera, Abigail, Nicholas, and Emma; brother, Jay Goskeson of Albert Lea; sister, Lori and her husband Del Kusel of Albert Lea; father-in-law, Arnold Helgerson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters- and brothers-in-law. Jon is also survived by his special friend, Frank Means, and by his beloved dog, Katie.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Ellen Helgerson; and his grandparents.
