Josephine Gladys Martinson, age 67, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with the Rev. Kevin Mackey officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Burial will take place at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Mills.
Josephine Gladys Brabec Martinson was born Oct. 9, 1935, near Glenville,
daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Cipra) Brabec. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1953. She worked for Dr. Simmons in Albert Lea as a dental assistant and receptionist prior to her marriage.
Vernon and Josephine were united in marriage on April 9, 1960 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Until recently, she lived on the farm that they farmed together.
Josephine was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church on
Aug. 24, 1960, with Vernon being her sponsor.
Josephine loved her family, particularly her grandchildren. She was very kind and enjoyed visiting with, and baking for her many friends. She loved the outdoors and very fond of living out in the country.
She is survived by her son, Vernon and his wife Louise Martinson; six grandchildren: Benjamin, Daniel, Alex and Emma Martinson, and Nicole and Cody Rognes, all of Lake Mills, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Orene Sanden and Geneva Martinson, both of Lake Mills, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Les Tiedman of Wells; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, on Oct. 22, 1988; her parents: Joseph and Gladys Brabec; one sister, Lorraine Farley; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
