Ruth Lenora Walk, 93, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Ruth Lenora Walk will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the First Lutheran Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before at the chapel.
Ruth died June 4, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 93 years old.
Ruth was born Jan. 2, 1910 in Northwood, Iowa, the daughter of John D. and Thea (Holty) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Northwood, Iowa. She attended schools in Northwood, Iowa.
Ruth married Edward W. Walk on April 5, 1930 at Northwood, Iowa. To them were born nine children: Joy, Gary, Betty, Ronald, Dean, David, Bruce, Judy and Larry. She was a wife, mother and grandmother all her life and loved every minute of it.
She is survived by her children: Joy (Eslie) Bergstrom of Albert Lea, Gary (Gloria) Walk of Albert Lea, Betty (Bob) Guenther of Alden, Dean (Jane) Walk of Bemidji, and Judy (Don) Schultz of Faribault; daughter-in-law, Sheila Walk of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Arlene Johnson of Albert Lea; stepchildren: Peggy and Bob; grandchildren: Wayne Kosmoski, Cindy (Randy) Bottelson, Linda (Gregg E.) Sainsbury, Jayne (Dale) Warner, Richard (Mar) Bergstrom, Michael Walk, Steven Walk, Daniel Guenther; Susan (Dwight) Borland, Cathy Blake, Timothy Walk, Edward Walk, Ronald (Dawn) Walk Jr., Thomas (Tammy) Walk, Jason (Dessa) Schultz, Amy (Chad) Merriett, Nick (Gina) Walk, Mitchell (Kathy) Walk, Martin Walk and Tracey Buss: 31 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews: Virginia McHenry, Verna Mae Pixley, Arlynn McHenry, Ardyce Gardner, Shirley Bartelt, Anna Buscher, Margaret Flatness, Thea Flatness, Leland Johnson, William Johnson, Jerald Johnson, Paul Johnson; Johnny Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Gretchen Johnson, Verne Johnson, Charles Walk and Lois Jensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward, in 1963; four sons: Ronald, David, Bruce and Larry Walk; grandson, Christopher Walk; granddaughter, Daphne Walk; brothers: George Johnson and
Elmer Johnson; and sisters: Thelma Anderson and Bertha McHenry.
Her family was the most important part of her life. She loved watching the Twins and Vikings and playing bingo and cards with her friends.
She is not gone &045; she has but crossed the threshold of tomorrow into a land where cares are lost and where there is no sorrow.
