Shirley L. Gallentine, 74, New Richland

Memorial service and visitation for family and friends of Shirley L. Gallentine, age 74, of New Richland, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Gerhardt will officiate. Memorial service is at 3 p.m. and visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Shirley died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at her home in New Richland.
Shirley Louise Gallentine was born Nov. 22, 1928, and was adopted by Albert W. and Gertrude E. (Mayer) Koch. She graduated from St. Anthony High School and Marshalltown Business School. On Sept. 21, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Howard A. Gallentine. She was the secretary at Blooming Prairie Elementary School for 18 years. The couple has lived in New Richland for the last six years. Shirley enjoyed ceramics, bingo, macrame, crocheting and stamping. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
Survivors include her husband, Howard of New Richland; children: Linda and husband Gene Pederson of Hartland, Steve and wife Carolyn Gallentine of Jordan, Debbie and husband Paul Wallace of Geneva, Diane and husband Bill Pfieffer of Waseca, and Dan and wife Brenda Gallentine of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Don and wife Lois Koch of Glenville; sister, Darlene and husband Ray Cannon of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Connie Koch.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, her grandparents and a nephew.
