Adrian M. Kauffmann, 89, Wells

Adrian M. Kauffmann, age 89, of Wells, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. The Rev. Monrad Mandsager will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 29, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4:-7 p.m.,

and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be in Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1913, in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, the son of Ernst and Lena (Klinder) Kauffmann. He married Margaret L Passer on Nov. 27, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danville Township, Blue Earth

County.

Adrian worked as a farm hand, mechanic at Pankow Motors in Wells, and was a custodian at the Wells Public school until he retired from full-time work in 1979. After retiring, he did odd jobs, including lawn care, for friends and neighbors, custodial work at Naeve Parkview, and carpentry work for The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. Adrian was a member of the Albert Lea Clown Troupe for about 20 plus years. His hobbies included fishing and gardening. He was an avid Bingo player, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Nesje of Kiester; nine grandchildren: Joyce and husband “Ted” Alvin Strack of Wells, Sandra and husband Randy Carlsen of Elysian, Christina and husband Marlin Albers of Kiester, Vicky Dobberstein and special friend Jeff McCarty of Burnsville, Steven Nesje of Sheridan, Wyo., Lisa and husband Mike Larson of Prior Lake, Sarah Nicholson and special friend Jerry Peak of Alden, John and wife Kari Nesje of Alden, and Harold Nesje and special friend Suzanne Working of Maple Grove, Minn.; 13 great-grandchildren: Cheri Nesje, Cassie and Tracey Carlsen, Erik and

wife Sarah Oppedal, Erin and Jonathan Dobberstein, Ashley Larson, Samantha Jo and Travis Nicholson, Nathan, Levi and Dustin Nesje, and Ann Nesje; four great-great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Holly Nesje, and Hannah and Trevor Oppedal; two brothers: Vern Kauffmann of Ahgwattehing, Minn., and Donald Kauffmann of Minnesota Lake; two sisters: Evelyn “Dolly” Tolzmann of Minnesota Lake, and Dorothy Neitzel of Waterville; one Sister-in-law, Norma Kauffmann of Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret, in 1999; two brothers: Harold and Roy; one sister, Lorene Schwartz; and son-in-law, Selmer J. Nesje.
