Minnie Kuether, 91, Wells

Minnie Kuether, age 91, of Wells, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in rural Minnesota Lake. The Rev. Henry Hendricks will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery (next to the church) in rural Minnesota Lake.

She was born Oct. 11, 1911, the daughter of Henry C. and Elizabeth (Kaiser) Thisius in Wells.

Minnie was baptized at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wells, and confirmed April 5, 1925, and married to Ernest Kuether on Dec. 16, 1931, in Wells, all by the Rev. Ganchow. The couple joined the St. Paul’s UCC in Minnesota Lake Township and she has been an active member since. The couple farmed north of Wells for over 50 years. Minnie’s hobbies included quilting at church, traveling and playing cards.

She is survived by two sons: Don and wife Pat Kuether of Menomonie, Wis., and Ray Kuether of Wells; one daughter-in-law, Sue Roberts of Austin; six grandchildren: Gigi Del Pizzo, Staci Andrews, Michael Kuether, Marlene Gray, Brad Kuether and Carolyn Kuether; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1992; and one son, James, on June 15, 1990.
