Sylvia I. Jepson, 83, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Sylvia I. Jepson, age 83, of Albert Lea will be held today, Aug. 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church, Clarks Grove. The Rev. Alvin Cooper will officiate. Burial will be at Clarks Grove Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Sylvia died on Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Sylvia Irene Jepson was born on Aug. 13, 1919, in Bancroft Township, the daughter of Arthur and Tina (Hanson) Nelson. After her schooling, Sylvia worked as a nanny for several families in the area. On Nov. 4, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raynard Jepson in Clarks Grove. The couple farmed for 29 years before moving to Albert Lea in 1974. Sylvia enjoyed embroidery, cutting quilt blocks, baking, playing scrabble and traveling. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove, the Neighborhood Club, the Fideles Sunday School Class, Women’s Missionary Fellowship, Mission Circle and the PTA of District No. 22.

Survivors include her children: Raynold and wife, Bunny Jepson of Albert Lea, Gary and wife, Marcie Jepson of Milaca, Alan and wife, Pat Jepson of Albert Lea, Robin and wife, Janet Jepson of Overland Park, Kan., Jeanene and husband, Boyd Reese of Albert Lea, and Julie and husband, Jason Eckert, Jr. also of Albert Lea; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Everett Camp; and sister-in-law, Gwyneth Nelson.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raynard; sister, Marian Camp; brothers, Russell and Curtis Nelson; and granddaughter, Marcha Jepson.
