WADENA &045; Sophie Miller represented Albert Lea in the 2003 Elks State Soccer Shoot Out in Wadena.

Miller placed second for the second consecutive year in the U10-U11 age division.

The competition was tough. The regular competition ended with Miller tied for first place. This forced another shoot off to determine a final champion. It was a very close finish with Miller placing second by a one-shot difference.

Miller had won the local competition hosted by the Albert Lea Elks Lodge earlier this summer.

She then went on to win the district championship in Rochester and that qualified her for the state meet.

Miller was a key member of the Albert Lea Youth Soccer Association’s U-11 girls’ team which placed second in this summer’s state tournament.

Sophie is the daughter of Jeff Miller and Sara Miller of Albert Lea.

The local Elks Lodge 813 supports Albert Lea Youth Soccer.

The Elks Soccer Shoot Out is a national event that recognizes talented young soccer players and awards scholarships and prizes to the winners.
