Norris Groe, 69, Kiester

Memorial service for Norris Groe will at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa, with the Rev. Kevin Kackey officiating, Visitation will be held one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Norris Groe, son of Norris and Ruth (Hove) Groe, was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Worth County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa. He graduated from Lake Mills Community High School. Norris joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on May 29, 1962, as a Corporal E-3.
He was married to Mildred Dodge in Santa Ana, Calif. Norris and Millie had two children: Norris Richard III, born Sept. 30, 1957, and Robin, born Nov. 9, 1963. Norris moved back to Lake Mills in 1970 and worked at Winnebago Industries for 20-plus years. He retired in 1994. Since his retirement he has devoted all of his spare time to solving everyone’s computer problems.
Norris passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Groe and Ed Eaton of Newport Beach, Calif.; his son, Norris Groe III
(J.R.) and his wife Vickie of Kiester; two grandsons: Jon and Matt; two brothers: David and his fianc Lory of Lake Mills, and Royden and his wife Zona of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four sisters: Vivian Meehlhause of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jeorgene Huso and her husband Steven of Brandon, S.D., Kathy Hanson and her husband Dennis of Lake Mills, and Denise Kobler and her husband Kurt of Flower Mound, Texas; and lots of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Norris was preceded in death by his parents: Ruth and Norris; brothers: Steven and Marvin; sister, Fran; brother-in-law, Gary Meehlhause; and his mother-in-law, Lea Dodge; and father-in-law, George Dodge.
He will be missed very much by all of us who loved him.
