Wilbert Katzung, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Wilbert Katzung, age 91, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at United Lutheran Church in Walters. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Interment will be in Walters Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Wilbert died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center from heart complications.
Wilbert Katzung was born April 4,1912, to William Ludwig and Elise Maria (Rupp) Katzung in Walters. He attended country school. On Dec. 12, 1934, Wilbert was united in marriage to Marion Helen Miller in Wells. The couple farmed south of Walters for many years before retiring in March 1978 and moving to Albert Lea. Wilbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in the RV with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Marion of Albert Lea; daughters: Beverly and husband James Wharton of Ramsey, and Janice and husband Jack Earls of Owatonna; five grandchildren and one great-grandson: Jody Earls of Waubun, Minn., Joel Earls of Owatonna, Jason Wharton of Ramsey, Renee and husband Chris Miller and their son, Masen of Mesa, Ariz., and Bryan Wharton of Ramsey; and sister, Orlean Cleveland of Ellendale.
Wilbert was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, one brother, and four sisters.
