Edna Bertelson, 95, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Edna K. Bertelson of Albert Lea will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zelske will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Edna died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 95 years old.
Edna was born Aug. 25, 1908, in Freeborn County, Pickerel Lake Township to Henry and Hulda (KIukow) Schneider. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Concordia Lutheran Church. Edna was member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Edna was married to William K. Bertelson on Nov. 4, 1935, at Waterloo, Iowa by Rev. G. E. Milchert of Waterloo. Edna lived most of her life in Albert Lea. She enjoyed gardening and taught herself Spanish. Edna especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her two children: Kenwood Bertelson and his wife Carol of Albert Lea, and Cleora Bachman of Garner, Iowa; grandchildren: Theresa Henderson and her husband John of New Hope, Amy Brouwers and her husband Todd of Albert Lea, Karen Sipes of St. Anthony, Angie Beener and her husband Brian of Albert Lea, Hugh Cornick Jr. of Albert Lea, and Wendy Cornick of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Brittney, Brandi, Lindsey and Logan Beener, Carli Bertelson, Anna and Brad Brouwers, Jordan and Jenna Henderson, Samuel Orth, Michael Sande, Jacob Del Cornick, and Benjamin Cornick.
Edna was preceded in death by parents; husband, William; five sisters: Hattie and her husband Alfred Wysong, Marie and her husband Leonard Leschefske, Cora and her husband Wesley Seeger, and Louise and Dorathea; and brother, Arthur E. and his wife Martha Flugum Schneider.
If there were more people like her in the world, it would be a much better place. Edna will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Until we meet again.
