Irvin W. Armstrong, 88, Hartland

The funeral service for Irvin W. Armstrong of Hartland will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland.
Irvin died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. He was 88 years old.
Irvin was born in Hartland on July 13, 1915, the son of Wallace and Inga (Nelson) Armstrong. He graduated from New Richland High School in 1934. Irvin was a life time resident of Hartland. He married Gilma Daffinrud in March of 1942. Irvin was a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. He served on various church boards and sang in the church choir. Irvin farmed all of his life. He also was a school bus driver for 32 years for the New Richland Schools. He was also proud of driving the bus for the football state champion team in 1978. Irvin was a boy scout and 4-H leader.
He enjoyed music and spending time visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed black cars and the challenge of keeping them clean. He drove his 1973 Cadillac to Albert Lea every day.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Gilma; children: Bruce Armstrong of Hartland, and Nancy and husband Dennis Jensen of Apple Valley, Minn.; grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Brad Becker of Cannon Falls, and Jason Jensen of Apple Valley; and great-grandchild, Annabella Becker.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Tamara Jensen in 1976.
