Pearl Elizabeth West, age 89, of Austin died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, 2003, at her home in Austin.
She was born May 20, 1914, to Riley and Corraine (Lyons) Smith in Lake Crystal, Minn. She attended school in Madelia, Minn. graduating in 1932. She married Gordon L. West on Nov. 24, 1938 in Argyle, Minn. They lived in Gays Mills, Wis. before moving to Albert Lea where Gordon worked for Wilson Foods. After retirement they moved to Buffalo, Wis. until 1996, when they moved to Austin. Pearl enjoyed sewing, needlework, crocheting and reading. She belonged to Women of the Moose.
Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Heilman of Marietta, Ga.; Lee Ann West (Donna McKee) of Columbia Heights; Irene (William) Frohreich of Austin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. West on May 22, 2000; her parents; and two sisters, Vivian Olson and Mildred Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Roberta Flood officiating. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour before the service on Monday.
